Cross Country Teams Run at Benedictine

LISLE, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's and women's cross country teams returned to action by competing at the Benedictine University Invitational. The men's team placed fifth while the women's squad finished third.

On the men's side, the Bluejays totaled 135 points to place fifth. North Central College won the team title with 46 points. Tom McGrath was the top finisher for Elmhurst, crossing the finish line in 15th place with a time of 27:45.43. Jake Austin placed 25th with a time of 27:45.43 while Nathan Selling placed 33rd in 28:11.25. Daniel DeCleene finished 38th in 28:17.87 while Ken Ptack added a 42nd place finish with a time of 28:23.10. Jeff Camp (44th place in 28:25.17) and Todd Byrne (70th place in 29:02.72) rounded out the Bluejays' top-seven.

For the women's squad, the Bluejays totaled 54 points, just four points behind second-place finisher Illinois Central College. North Central College captured the team title by scoring 33 points. Hannah Williams led the Bluejays with a fourth place finish in 23:57.97. Shauna Potrawskifinished right behind Williams in fifth place (24:05.37). Rebekah Clark added a 13th place finish in 24:29.74 while Lauren Williams crossed the finish line in 17th place (24:39.27). Mariola Grzybowska finished in 18th place in 24:39.74 while Megan Johnson placed 24th in 24:46.80. Amanda Andersen rounded out the Bluejays' top-seven by placing 41st in 25:51.43.

Both teams return to action in two weeks by running at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational.
