Four Bluejays Earn All-Conference Honors

ELMHURST, Ill., - Four members of the Elmhurst College football team have been named to the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's (CCIW) all-conference team. Junior Randy Wright  was chosen as a first-team selection while junior Brandon Jones, sophomore Jon Janus, and freshman Scottie Williams were named to the second team.

Wright, a junior linebacker, earned his second consecutive first-team all-conference honor after leading the Bluejays and the CCIW in tackles. Wright missed a pair of games due to injuries, but still recorded a team-leading 98 tackles (56 solo). He also led the team in tackles for loss (14) and quarterback sacks (4.5). He ranked among the nation's leaders in both tackles, and tackles for loss. He led the CCIW in tackles with 78 and tackles for loss as well. In just two seasons with the Bluejays, Wright has amassed 216 tackles, including 36.5 tackles for loss. His 36.5 career tackles for loss ranks fourth in Elmhurst all-time history.

Jones was tabbed for his first all-conference honor at linebacker. He finished third on the team in tackles with 68 (42 solo). He ranked second on the squad in tackles for loss (nine) and pass break-ups (seven). He also finished third on the team in sacks with three. In CCIW play, Jones ranked 10th in th league in tackles, averaging almost seven stops per game. He also ranked seventh in the league in tackles for loss.

Jon Janus
anus, a sophomore safety, earned his second consecutive second-team all-conference honor. He finished the season as the Bluejays' second leading tackler with 76 (46 solo), In addition he also recorded two tackles for loss and broke up six passes. He ranked third in the CCIW in total tackles with 61.

Scottie Williams
Williams, a freshman running back, was one of only two freshmen to earn all-conference honors. He led the Bluejays in rushing, carrying 116 times for 563 yards and four touchdowns. He also caught 19 passes for 156 yards and a score. In CCIW competition, he ranked fifth in the league in rushing, averaging over 62 yards per game.

Elmhurst finished the 2009 season with a 4-6 overall record. The Bluejays placed seventh in the CCIW with a 1-6 conference mark.
