Bluejay Grapplers Earn Preseason Ranking

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College wrestling has been tabbed as one of the top teams in the nation in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division III Preseason Poll.

After finishing a school-best seventh in the nation last year, the Bluejays open the 2009-10 season ranked 13th in the NWCA poll.

A pair of Elmhurst wrestlers have earned individual rankings as well. Senior Jake Oster is ranked second in the nation at 133 pounds while junior Mark Corsello is ranked second at 285 pounds.

Oster, a three-time All-American, finished the 2008-09 season with a perfect 27-0 record and won a national title at 125 pounds. He is expected to move to the 133-pound weight class this season. Cornell College's Nick Northern is ranked number one at 133 pounds after finishing as the national runner-up last season.

Corsello closed out last season by finishing as the national runner-up at 285 pounds. He is ranked behind defending national champion Dan Laurent of Wisconsin La Crosse.

Elmhurst begins the 2009-10 season by hosting 25th-ranked Loras College in a dual meet on November 13.
