LINCOLN, Neb. - The Elmhurst College bowling team moved to 7-24 after posting a 2-12 record at the Big Red Invitational hosted by the University of Nebraska.
Elmhurst began the three-day tournament with a 0-4 record in four-game total pinfall Baker matches. The Bluejays fell to 12th-ranked Minnesota-Mankato 697-557 before falling to seventh-ranked Arkansas State 709-675. The Bluejays also dropped matches to 20th-ranked Valparaiso (759-715) and Prairie View A&M (744-577).
Elmhurst was winless on the the tournament's second day which consisted of five-player matches. The Bluejays began the day with a 962-909 loss to second-ranked Vanderbilt.
Sarah Paul rolled a 228 and
Alyssa Vogler bowled a 201 to pace the Bluejays in the loss. The Bluejays were then downed by fourth-ranked Central Missouri 883-878. Paul led Elmhurst in the loss with a 223. The Bluejays suffered a 903-714 defeat to top-ranked Nebraska despite Paul's 172.
Bethany Holden rolled a 189 to lead Elmhurst in an 857-790 loss to Minnesota-Mankato. The Bluejays closed the tournament's second day with a 1018-929 loss to Arkansas State.
Shannon Grimes rolled a 208 and Vogler bowled a 205 to pace Elmhurst in the defeat.
Elmhurst finished the tournament by posting a 2-3 record on the third day of competition. The Bluejays began the day by edging Valparaiso 870-867 behind Vogler's team-leading 192. Elmhurst then dropped a 865-854 match to Prairie View despite Vogler bowling a 191. The Bluejays followed with a 1015-849 loss to Vanderbilt. Grimes led Elmhurst in the defeat with a 192. The Bluejays snapped the two-game skid with an 898-881 victory over Central Missouri.
Amanda Warwick led Elmhurst with a 192 while Vogler bowled a 185. The Bluejays closed the tournament with a 896-839 loss to Nebraska. Grimes bowled a 203 to lead Elmhurst in the loss to Nebraska.
