ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College wrestling team, ranked 13th in the latest NWCA poll, improved to 2-0 in dual meet competition by defeating the University of Chicago 32-10.

Chicago jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead after Jimmy Schoettle scored a 10-2 major decision over Elmhurst's Tom Laskowske. A forfeit by Chicago at 133 pounds gave Elmhurst a 6-4 advantage. Ryan Early defeated Joeie Ruettiger 8-2 at 141 pounds to give Elmhurst a 9-4 lead. Charlie Curran followed Early's victory with a 12-2 major decision over Chicago's Matt Hart at 149 pounds. The win by Curran was his first victory of the season at 149 pounds after starting the season by wrestling at 157 pounds.

Dan Hamilton pinned Chicago's Josh Hotta in 5:51 to give Elmhurst a 19-4 advantage in the dual. Jack Lewis followed up Hamilton's victory with a 10-2 major decision over Chicago's Seth Adams at 165 pounds. Chicago's David Kneisel snapped Elmhurst's five-match winning streak with a 2-0 victory over the Bluejays' Jason Cleary at 174 pounds. At 184 pounds, Elmhurst's Danny Vargas pinned Chicago's Wes Rosamilia in 2:12. The pin by Vargas gave the Bluejays a comfortable 29-7 lead.

Chicago's Troy Carlson toppled the Bluejays' Joe Rau 10-4 at 197 pounds, but Elmhurst's Mark Corsello closed out the dual with a 6-4 win over Chicago's Ryan Hatten at 285 pounds. 

Elmhurst hosts Augustana College in a CCIW dual on Wednesday, December 9.
