ELMHURST, Ill. - Two members of the Elmhurst College women's soccer squad have garnered all-region honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA). Senior
Courtney Constantino and sophomore
Stephanie Thomson were both named to the 2009 NSCAA All-Central Region third team.
Constantino was selected at midfield after earning first-team all-conference honors earlier in the year. The Bluejays' co-captain ranked among the league leaders in both goals and points. She netted three goals and totaled eight points while playing in CCIW contests. She finished as the team's co-leader in goals scored (six) and ranked second on the team in total points with (14). She was named the CCIW's Offensive Player of the Week earlier this season after scoring both of Elmhurst's goals in a 2-0 win at Carthage College. She closed out her career ranked sixth in school history goals scored (22) and seventh in total points (57).
Thomson was tabbed as a defender after earning second-team all-
conference honors. After missing her freshman season with an injury, Thomson helped anchor an Elmhurst defense that held opponents to just 1.27 goals per game. In addition, she also netted the game-winning goal in the Bluejays' overtime victory at North Central College in October.
Elmhurst finished the 2009 season with a 10-7 overall record. The Bluejays finished fifth in the conference standings with a 3-4 mark.
