ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College wrestling team, ranked 14th in the latest NWCA poll, improved to 3-0 on the season by crushing Augustana 38-3 in a CCIW dual meet.
The Bluejays (1-0 CCIW) started the dual with a 6-0 lead after Augustana (0-4, 0-1 CCIW) forfeited the match at 125 pounds.
Jake Oster scored a 9-6 victory over Steven Poffenberger at 133 pounds to give Elmhurst a 9-0 lead.
Ryan Earley followed Oster's win with a 10-8 decision over Alberto Quiros at 141 pounds.
Charlie Curran scored a 19-3 technical fall over Alec Rizzo at 149 pounds.
Dan Hamilton made short work of Zach Holland at 157 pounds. Hamilton pinned the Vikings' grappler in 1:40.
Andrew Konovodoff gave Elmhurst a 23-0 lead when he scored a 13-6 victory over Ian Knepshield at 165 pounds.
Frank Savegnago scored a 10-5 victory over Alex Vavra at 174 pounds in his season debut. Savegnago had missed the previous month with an injury.
Augustana scored its only points at 184 pounds when Matt Nykaza defeated
Mike McNeil 2-1.
Joe Rau scored a 6-2 victory over Hunter Feraco at 197 pounds to give Elmhurst a 32-3 lead.
Mark Corsello closed out the dual by pinning George Pappendreou in 1:22.
Elmhurst travels to Wheaton College on December 17.
