CHICAGO, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's basketball team dropped to 5-11 overall and 0-5 in CCIW play following a 58-53 loss at North Park University.
North Park (10-6, 4-1 CCIW) used a 9-0 run in the second half to break a 40-all tie and open up a nine-point advantage. Elmhurst pulled to within three points with four minutes remaining, but could come no closer.
Dustin Bainter led Elmhurst with 16 points in the loss.
Shooting woes continued to plague the Bluejays, as Elmhurst shot just 34.8 percent (23-of-66) from the floor. The Bluejays struggles from downtown continued as well, as Elmhurst shot just 1-of-16 (6.3 percent) from 3-point range. The Bluejays turned the ball over a season-low three times.
North Park shot 43.4 percent (23-of-53) from the field, including 35.3 percent (6-of-17) from long range. The Vikings struggled from the foul line, hitting just 6-of-14 attempts (42.9 percent).
Dustin Bainter led Elmhurst in the loss with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Zack Boyd chipped in with 14 points and seven rebounds.
Mike Jackson totaled seven and
Mike McCurdy added six.
North Park was led by Roshawn Russell's 16 points. Shaun Collins added 11 for the Vikings while Emmanuel Crosby totaled eight points and nine rebounds.
Elmhurst plays at Wheaton College on Saturday, January 23.
