Track Teams Kick Off Indoor Season at Chicago Duals

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's and women's track and field teams kicked off the 2010 indoor season by competing at the University of Chicago Duals.  The men's team posted a 3-4 dual record while the women's team finished with a 5-3 dual mark.

Katlyn Bednarski had the highest individual finish for the women's squad. Bednarski turned in a third-place finish in the 5,000 meters, crossing the finish line in 18:57.27.  Antonéya Veasy-Smith placed fifth in the high jump by clearing a height of 1.42 meters. Lauren Williams scored a pair of top-10 finishes by placing fifth in the mile run (5:35.03) and 10th (2:34.78) in the 800 meters. Stephanie Thomson finished fifth in the long jump (4.45 meters) and 10th in the 55 meter dash with a time of 8.38 seconds. Tracy Brtis finished sixth in the 55-hurdles in 9.71 seconds. Brtis added an eighth place finish in the 400 meters (1:07.96). Rebekah Clark finished the 3,000 meters in in eight place in 11:07.19 while Amanda Anderson finished just behind in ninth place with a time of 11:09.80. Bailey Cross placed seventh in the long jump with a mark of 3.57 meters.  Whitney Roth added a 10th place finish in the shot put with a toss of 10.35 meters.

Jamall Lane recorded the highest individual finish for the men's team. Lane finished second in the 55 hurdles in a time of 8.32 seconds. Ryan Bock added a third-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 12.79 meters. Mark D'Angelo recorded a pair of top-10 finished by placing ninth in the 55 meters(6.93 seconds) and seventh in the 400 meters (54.03 seconds). Neil Bonk finished seventh in the 55-hurdles in 9.42 seconds. A pair of Bluejays scored top-10 finishes in the 3,000 meters. Nathan Selling placed fifth in 9:37.22, while Jeff Camp finished seventh with a time of 9:42.29.
