WHEATON, Ill. - The Elmhurst College women's golf team wrapped up the 2010 CCIW Championship by placing sixth.
After finishing the championships second day in seventh place, the Bluejays shot a 352 on the third day of the tournament to climb into sixth place in the team standings.
After shooting a 368 on day one of the championships, Elmhurst improved by 16 strokes on day two and three by totaling a 352 on both days. The Bluejays shaved 14 strokes off of the deficit to sixth place. Elmhurst totaled a 1,072 over the three days, edging Augustana College by one stroke (1,073). Carthage College placed fifth with a 1,050
Illinois Wesleyan University captured the conference championship by totaling a 965. North Central College finished second with a 990, just two strokes in front of Wheaton College (992). Millikin University finished in fourth place with a 1,028.
After shooting a 91 on day one,
Courtney Classen turned in a season-low score of 80 on day two and shot a 92 on day three to total a 263 and tie for 16th place.
Trisha Goss (88-92-87) finished tied for 22nd place with a 267 while
Amber Remblake (94-87-90) trailed by only four strokes in 28th place with a 271.
Amanda Wright improved her score on the championship's second and third days, concluding the championship with a three-day score of 284 (104-93-87), good for a 35th-place finish.
Jorianne Maritato carded a 286 (98-95-93), to finish in 36th place while
Kelly Partyka placed 37th with a 287 (101-98-88).
