CHICAGO, Ill. - The Elmhurst College wrestling team remained unbeaten in dual meet competition by rolling past the University of Chicago 45-3. Elmhurst won eight of the nine matches that were wrestled.
Tom Laskowske started the dual by defeating Chicago's Jake Scrahmm 5-1 at 125 pounds.
Ben Salabura was awarded a forfeit at 133 pounds to put Elmhurst up 9-0.
Mike Grice needed just 1:53 to pin Chicago's Johansen Amin at 141 pounds.
Ryan Earley followed Grice's victory with a 10-2 major decision over Chicago's Ryan Hoyt at 149 pounds.
Tom Jung gave Elmhurst a 23-0 lead by shutting out Chicago's Donovan Sarno 11-0 to earn a major decision.
James Layton scored Chicago's only points of the dual by edging Elmhurst's
Yousef Al-Ghoul 5-4 at 165 pounds. The Bluejays'
Danny Balderas earned a win at 174 pounds after Chicago's Seth Adams was forced to default due to an injury.
Frank Savegnago earned an 18-4 major decision over Takumi Mihama at 184 pounds.
Joe Rau pinned Jeff Tyburski in 5:59 to score six points for Elmhurst at 197 pounds.
Mark Corsello closed out the dual by pinning the Maroons' Ryan Hatten in 1:36.
