MIDLOTHIAN, Va. - The Elmhurst College bowling team posted a 7-2 record and placed sixth at the Jeanette Lee Invitational.
The Bluejays placed sixth out of 22 teams based on total pinfall. The Bluejays improved to 23-26 overall with the 7-2 record.
Elmhurst posted a perfect 6-0 record on the tournament's first-day of competition, which consisted of standard five-player matches. Elmhurst opened play with an 884-591 victory over Shaw University.
Amanda Warwick paced Elmhurst with a 225 in the victory. The Bluejays then defeated Johnson C. Smith University 1048-680.
Alyssa Vogler rolled a 242 to lead Elmhurst while
Shannon Grimes added 219. Warwcik,
Brittany Meyer and
Sarah Paul all eclipsed the 190-mark to help the Bluejays post a season-high score of 1,048.
Elmhurst downed Saint Paul College 896-708 behind Paul's 206 and Warwick's 198. Elmhurst knocked off Chowan University 915-637 with Paul rolling her second straight 200-game (204). The Bluejays ran their record to 5-0 on the day with a 956-613 win over Winston-Salem State University. Warwick paced the Bluejays with a 238 while Paul rolled a 198 and Meyer finished with a 193. Elmhurst closed out the first day with a 943-731 victory over Virginia Union University. Warwick rolled a season-high 258 to lead Elmhurst in the victory.
The tournament's second day consisted of best-of-seven Baker matches. The Bluejays started the day with a 4-0 loss to Adelphi University but rebounded to topple St. Francis College (N.Y.) 4-2. Elmhurst closed out the tournament with a 4-3 loss to New Jersey City University.
