ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's and women's track and field teams continued the 2010 indoor season by competing at the Chicagoland Championships hosted by Lewis University. The women's team placed 10th while the men's team finished 13th.
On Friday, the Bluejay women totaled 13 points to place 10th of 20 teams. Katlyn Bednarski was the top individual finisher for Elmhurst, scoring a fifth-place finish in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:50.25. Two relay teams also scored team points for the Bluejays. The Bluejays' 4x200 squad of Tracy Brtis, Stephanie Thomson, Bailey Cross, and Antonéya Veasy-Smith placed fifth with a time of 2:01.93. The Bluejays' distance medley relay team consisting of Amanda Anderson, Brtis, Lauren Williams, and Bednarski placed fifth in 13:13.17.
On Saturday, the men's squad placed 13th with 10 points. Rodney Payton was the Bluejays' only individual scorer. Payton placed sixth in the long jump with a distance of 6.46 meters. The Bluejays also scored seven points in relays. The 4x200 squad placed fourth in 1:35.84 while the 4x400 team finished seventh in 3:34.55.
