WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Elmhurst College women's bowling team turned in a strong performance at the Warhawk Classic hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. The Bluejays posted a 7-2 record and finished second in total pinfall.
On Saturday, the Bluejays started the day with three total-pinfall Baker matches. The Bluejays started the day with a 765-678 win over Minnesota State University-Mankato and then defeated the host Warhawks 747-708. The Bluejays suffered a 733-700 defeat to Valparaiso University.
After the Baker matches, Elmhurst scored back-to-back wins in standard five-player matches.
Alyssa Vogler bowled a 205 to lead Elmhurst to a 904-878 win over UW-Whitewater. The Bluejays followed with a 939-787 victory over Minnesota State-Mankato.
Shannon Grimes rolled a 208 to pace the Bluejays in the victory.
On Sunday, the Bluejays started with a 924-891 loss to Valparaiso University.
Amanda Warwick bowled a 205 to lead the Bluejays in the loss.
Elmhurst closed the day with three victories in total-pinfall Baker matches Elmhurst knocked off Minnesota-Mankato 710-701 and then followed with a 754-732 victory over UW-Whitewater. The Bluejays closed out the Classic with a 785-740 win over Valparaiso.
The Bluejays now stand at 32-54 on the 2009-10 season.
