Long Earns Fifth CCIW Player of the Week Honor

ELMHURST, Ill. - Elmhurst forward Lyndsie Long has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's (CCIW) Player of the Week in women's basketball for the fifth time this season.

Long led Elmhurst to a pair of wins last week to secure the Bluejays' the third-seed in the upcoming CCIW Tournament. On Tuesday, Long became Elmhurst's all-time leading scorer by pouring in a game-high 18 points in the Bluejays' 79-67 win over Central. She added a game-high nine rebounds and four assists in the win. With her 18 points, she surpassed the former Elmhurst scoring record of 1,780 points set in 1986. 

On Saturday, Long scored a game-high 37 points and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds while adding three assists in Elmhurst's 90-69 win over Wheaton. Long finished the week averaging 27.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists while shooting .559 (19-of-34) from the floor. She finished the CCIW season with 266 points, the second-highest single-season point total in conference history.  

Long is currently ranked second in the nation in scoring, averaging 24.6 points per game. 

Elmhurst faces Carthage College int he first-round of the CCIW tournament on Friday, February 26, at Illinois Wesleyan University. Tip-off of the opening-round game is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
