ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Elmhurst College bowling team placed eighth at the Shrewsbury Invitational after posting a 2-12 head-to-head record. The Bluejays record now stands at 25-52 overall.
The tournament's first day consisted of five-game total pinfall Baker matches. The Bluejays finished the day winless, with an 0-5 record. Elmhurst was defeated by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (955-882), the University of Central Missouri (1002-860), Arkansas State University (946-889), Valparaiso University (968-773), and Minnesota State University-Mankato (794-781).
On Saturday, the Bluejays dropped a pair of Baker matches before falling in three five-player matches. The Bluejays dropped Baker matches to Louisiana Technical University (906-732) and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (938-867). Elmhurst opened regular play with a 956-785 loss to Nebraska-Lincoln.
Alyssa Vogler led the Bluejays' with a 211 in the loss. Elmhurst was downed by Central Missouri 915-790 despite
Amanda Warwick bowling a 194. The Bluejays closed the day with an 809-734 loss to Arkansas State.
Shannon Grimes paced the Bluejays in the loss with a 187.
The Bluejays finished the three-day tournament with a 2-2 record on Sunday. The Bluejays started the day by edging Minnesota-Mankato 873-872. Vogler and Grimes both rolled a 204 to lead Elmhurst in the victory. The Bluejays dropped a 988-836 contest to Valparaiso despite
Sarah Paul rolling a 201. The Bluejays followed with a 898-824 loss to Louisiana Tech. Vogler totaled a 200 to pace the Bluejays in the loss. Elmhurst closed the tournament with an 880-834 victory over UW-Whitewater. Grimes led the charge for Elmhurst with a 194 while Paul rolled a 190.
