HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Elmhurst College women's tennis team improved to 5-10 overall following a 2-1 spring trip to Hilton Head, S.C.

The Bluejays defeated Principia College (6-3) and Franklin College (5-4) before falling to Converse College (8-1).

ELMHURST 6, PRINCIPIA 3 - Elmhurst scored its fourth win of the season by defeating Principia College 6-3. Elmhurst won four of the six singles contests and two of the three doubles matches. 

Shannon Dale scored a 6-3, 6-2 win over Marianna Hronek at No. 2 singles while Blaire Hufford followed with a 6-2,7-5 win over Heather Libbe at No. 3 singles. Alexis Ross (6-3, 6-2 over Caroline Korthals) and Alex Stark (6-2, 6-0 over Courtney Banko) added wins at No.4 and No.5 singles, respectively. 

Hufford and Stark teamed to score an 8-4 win over Libbe and Korthals at No. 2 doubles while Ross and Emily Tarlini combined to defeat Banko and Jasmine Carcieri 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.

ELMHURST 5, FRANKLIN 4 - Elmhurst won its second straight match by upending Franklin College 5-4. The two teams split the six singles matches, but Elmhurst won two out of three doubles contests to score the 5-4 victory.

Dale scored a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles while Hufford downed Kayli Schafer 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.  Ross added a 6-3, 7-6 win over Chelsy Gott at No. 4 singles. 

Stephanie Ruff and Dale teamed up to defeat Morgan Bright and Schafer 8-3 at No. 1 doubles while Hufford and Stark earned a 9-8 win at No. 2 doubles. 

CONVERSE 8, ELMHURST 1 - The Bluejays dropped to 5-10 overall following an 8-1 loss to Converse College. 

Converse swept all six singles matches and scored wins in two out of three doubles contests. The doubles team of Ross and Tarlini scored Elmhurst's only point at No. 3 doubles.
