Women's Basketball Team Earns Academic Honor

ELMHURST, Ill. - After turning in its best season on the court in over 24 years, the Elmhurst College women's basketball team was recently recognized for its work in the classroom as well.

The Bluejays were recently honored by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) for appearing in the WBCA's 2009-10 Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll. The Bluejays ranked 25th in the nation in team grade-point average (GPA) with a 3.392 GPA. Elmhurst was the only member of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) to be recognized by the WBCA for its academic success.

The WBCA annually recognizes the top-25 schools across all three NCAA divisions, NAIA, and junior/community colleges for combined grade-point averages based on the entire season. This is Elmhurst's first appearance on the Top 25 Team Honor Roll.

Elmhurst closed out the 2009-10 season with  an 18-9 overall record and a 10-4 mark in the CCIW. The Bluejays advanced to the CCIW Tournament final for the first time in school history and finished just one win shy of qualifying for the NCAA Tournament.  The Bluejays' 18 wins were the most victories since the 1985-86 season. Elmhurst's 10 CCIW wins were the most victories since the 1990-91 season.
