Bluejay Football Team Picked For Seventh in CCIW Poll

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College football team has been picked to finish seventh in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) in a preseason vote of the league's coaches.

North Central College was picked to win its fifth-straight league title, finishing the poll with 48 points, including six first-place votes. Wheaton College was tabbed for second, totaling 41 points and a first-place vote.

Augustana College and last season's co-champions, Illinois Wesleyan University, both scored 33 points to tie for the third spot in the poll. Augustana also received the last first-place vote.

Carthage College was slotted for fifth with 28 points while Millikin University was selected sixth with 21 points. Elmhurst checked in at seventh with 13 points while North Park University rounded out the poll in eighth place with seven points.

Points are assigned in reverse order of voting (seven points for first, six for second, etc.) and coaches may not vote for their own team.

Elmhurst finished the 2009 season with a 4-6 overall record and a 1-6 mark in the CCIW. The Bluejays return seven starters on offense and six starters on defense in 2010. Elmhurst opens the 2010 season by traveling to Loras College on September 4.
