Elmhurst Volleyball Team Tabbed For Fourth in CCIW Poll

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College volleyball team has been picked to finish fourth in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) in a preseason vote of the league's coaches.
Elmhurst finished in fourth place in the poll with 33 points, finishing just two points shy of third-place finisher Illinois Wesleyan University.
Carthage College was predicted to win its seventh-straight CCIW title after finishing as the unanimous top pick in the poll. The Lady Reds scored the maximum 49 points and seven first-place votes.
North Central College was picked to finish second, finishing with 42 points and the final first-place vote.
Millikin University was slotted for fifth place with 22 points while Wheaton College (20 points), Augustana College (16 points), and North Park University (seven points) rounded out the remainder of the poll.
Points are assigned in reverse order of voting (seven points for first, six for second, etc.) and coaches may not vote for their own team.
Elmhurst finished the 2009 season with a 17-17 overall record and a 4-3 mark in the CCIW. The Bluejays open the 2010 season by hosting the Elmhurst College Invitational on September 3-4.
