WINNECONNE, Wis. - Elmhurst College's Jake Austin closed out the 2011 cross country season by placing 96th at the NCAA Cross Country Championship at Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne, Wis.

Austin finished the race with a time of 25:16.16, placing 96th in the process. He was Elmhurst's first national qualifier since the 2008 season.

St. Thomas' Ben Sathre secured the individual title with a winning time of 23:44.27. North Central College won the team title with 110 points while defending champion Haverford College placed second with 172 points.

"Jake had a tremendous season and grown into a national caliber runner," said Elmhurst head coach Jim Akita. "I couldn't be more proud of his effort at nationals. It's really tough to race at such a high level for back-to-back weeks. I'm excited for the upcoming track season for Jake to hopefully earn his first All-America honor."
