Bluejays Selected for NCAA Volleyball Championship

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College volleyball team is headed back to the NCAA Championship Tournament for the first time since the 2005 season.

Elmhurst was tabbed as one of 64 teams to compete in the NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship. The Bluejays (30-5) will face Cornell College (28-5) in the opening round of the tournament at Washington University in St. Louis.

First round matches will be played on Friday, November 11. Elmhurst will face Cornell in the region's first match at 12:30 p.m.

Other matches in the eight-ream region, include: Carthage College facing Edgewood College (3:00 p.m.), University of Chicago versus University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (5:30 p.m.), and the host Washington University taking on Webster University (8:00 p.m.)

Second round start times for Saturday (November 12) are 3:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. The regional final will be held on Sunday (November 13) at 4:00 p.m.

Elmhurst completed the regular season with a 30-5 overall record and was ranked 17th in the last AVCA national poll.

The trip to the NCAA Championship tournament marks the Bluejays' 16th appearance in school history. Elmhurst has made three trips to the final four, winning national titles in 1983 and 1985.

The Bluejays are making their eighth championship appearance under head coach Julie Hall.
