MILAN, Ill. - The Elmhurst College bowling team returned to action at the Leatherneck Classic by placing 17th out of 24 teams.
Elmhurst totaled a 3-7 record over the course of the two-day tournament.
The Bluejays posted a 2-4 record on the tournament's first day which consisted of standard five-player matches. Elmhurst opened with an 882-848 loss to Lindenwood University.
Ann Bialk and
Halie Maxwell paced the Bluejays by rolling a 180 apiece.
Elmhurst dropped to 0-2 on the day after falling 902-797 to Rock Valley College.
Amanda Warwick led the way in the loss by rolling a 179. The Bluejays snapped their two-game skid with an 834-702 win over Western Illinois University. Maxwell topped the 200-mark, bowling a 201 to lead the Bluejays in the win. Elmhurst made it two straight wins by edging Alma College 817-807. Warwick recorded a 198 to guide the Bluejays in the win.
Elmhurst closed out the day with back-to-back losses, falling to Ashford University 785-706) and Clarke University (824-720).
Beth Bogdanich bowled a 164 to lead the Bluejays against Ashford while
Alyssa Collins recorded a team-leading 152 against Clarke.
On Sunday, the Bluejays recorded a 1-3 record while competing in total-pinfall Baker matches. Elmhurst opened with a 706-698 win over Newman University before falling to Robert Morris University-Peoria (757-656), Webber International University (717-698) and McKendree University (749-748).
Elmhurst is now 20-40 on the season.
