ELMHURST, Ill. - Elmhurst football players
Scottie Williams and
Peter Stamos have both earned all-region honors from D3football.com.
Williams, a junior running back, and Stamos, a senior offensive lineman, were both named to the 12-player All-North Region Second Team.
Williams ended the season as one of the best running backs in the nation, breaking his own single-season Elmhurst rushing record with 1,374 yards on 224 carries. Williams rushed for 10 touchdown and ranked 11th in the nation in rushing yardage per game. A first-team All-CCIW selection for the past two years, Williams led the CCIW in rushing, totaling 1,152 yards in seven conference games, becoming the league's first 1,000-yard rusher since the 2004 season. He moved into third place on Elmhurst's career rushing list with 3,157 yards.
A first-team all-conference selection this season, Stamos started every game at right tackle for the Bluejays. Stamos and the rest of the Elmhurst offensive line helped the Bluejays roll up over 4,500 yards of total offense for the entire season and rank 22nd in the nation in total offense. Stamos did not allow a sack during any of the Bluejays' 10 games in 2011.
Elmhurst closed out the 2011 season with a 6-4 overall record and a fourth-place finish (4-3) in the CCIW.
