Elmhurst Bowlers Post 3-8 Mark at Morgan State Invite

BALTIMORE, Md. - The Elmhurst College bowling team moved to 35-45 overall following a 3-8 performance at the Morgan State University Invitational.

Elmhurst posted a 1-3 record on the tournament's opening day which consisted of four-game total-pinfall Baker matches. The Bluejays opened play with a 671-620 loss to 17th-ranked Norfolk State University. The Bluejays bounced back to toppled Bethune-Cookman University 742-627 before falling to seventh-ranked New Jersey City University (713-633) and Long Island University (703-636). 

The Bluejays finished 2-3 on day two of the tournament which was comprised of traditional matches. Elmhurst opened with a 1025--897 loss to fourth-ranked University of Nebraska. Amanda Warwick paced the Bluejays in the loss with a 213. Ann Bialk rolled a 203 while Warwick added a 192 and Alyssa Collins bowled a 191 while leading Elmhurst to a 904-833 win over 19th-ranked St. Peter's College. Elmhurst fell to Howard University 814-756 despite Bialk recording a 190. The Bluejays were toppled by fifth-ranked Vanderbilt University 948-908. Warwick rolled a 202 and Margaret Gawlik recorded a 195 for the Bluejays in the loss. Elmhurst closed out the day with an 837-830 win over North Carolina A&T University. Shannon Grimes paced Elmhurst in the win by recording a 200. 

Elmhurst wrapped up the tournament with a pair of best-of-seven Baker matches on Sunday. The Bluejays lost two close contests, falling 4-3 to both North Carolina A&T and Hampton University.
