Bowlers Compete at USBC Sectional

PEORIA, Ill. - The Elmhurst College bowling team wrapped up the 2010-11 season by placing 10th at the United States Bowling Congress Sectional in Peoria.

Elmhurst posted a 7-8 dual record at the two-day tournament and placed 10th based on total pinfall. All of the matches were four-game total pinfall Baker matches.

On Saturday, the Bluejays opened with three straight losses. Elmhurst fell to McKendree (752-612), Indiana (696-624) and St. Ambrose (746-666) before bouncing back to win three consecutive matches. Elmhurst toppled Notre Dame College (Ohio) 679-622 and then knocked o Calumet College-St. Joseph 749-741. Elmhurst won its third straight match with a 674-605 victory over Grand Valley State. The Bluejays closed out day one with back-to-back losses to Illinois (706-647) and Viterbo (781-668)

On Sunday, Elmhurst finished with a 4-3 record. The Bluejays opened with consecutive wins, toppling Midland 828-743 and UW-Oshkosh 674-633. Elmhurst dropped contests to Illinois State (727-636) and Robert Morris (793-682) before defeating Western Illinois 697-673. The Bluejays split their final two matches of the day, falling to UW-Whitewater 644-63, and toppling Illinois State 655-616.
