WARRENVILLE, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's cross country team totaled 125 points to place fifth out of eight teams at Wheaton College's Gil Dodds Invitational.
Washington University (Mo.) won the team title with 24 points. Wheaton finished second with 38 points while North Central College's split squads placed third, and fourth, respectively with 106 and 107 points.
Jake Austin led the Bluejays with a 12th-place finish. Austin completed the course in 26:10.14.
Doug Vrchota crossed the finish line in 24th place with a time of 26:37.14.
David Melone finished in 47th place (27:18.05) while teammate
Jeff Camp finished right behind in 48th place (27:24.87).
Will Cross finished the Bluejays' team score by placing 50th in 27:27.49.
Jake Leinweber (74th place in 28:05.18) and
Nathan Selling (80th place in 28:16.40) rounded out the Bluejays' top-seven runners.
The Bluejays have next weekend off before returning to action at the Ripon College Invitational on October 8.
