ELMHURST, Ill. - For the second time this season, Elmhurst College's Meghan Merklein has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

Merklein, who was named the league's inaugural Player of the Week to start the season, helped guide the Bluejays to a perfect 2-0 record in conference games last week.

On Wednesday (January 4), Merklein recorded a double-double with 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds while helping the Bluejays rally to clip North Park University 56-53. On Saturday (January 7), she shot 50.0 percent (6-of-12) from the floor and scored a game-high 18 points to lead Elmhurst past Wheaton College 60-46. She added five rebounds and a game-high five assists in the win over the Thunder.

For the week, she averaged 16.5 points and eight rebounds per game. A two-time all-conference selection in her career, Merklein leads the Bluejays in scoring, averaging 18.8 points per game. 

The Bluejays have compiled an 11-2 overall record and a 2-0 mark in the CCIW. Elmhurst travels to North Central College on Wednesday, January 11.
