Williams & Tomis Share CCIW Honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Elmhurst's Scottie Williams and David Tomis were both been named Players of the Week by the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.

Williams garnered his third Offensive Player of the Week honor this season while Tomis was named the league's Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time. Both players earned the recognition for their roles in Elmhurst's 45-42 overtime win at Millikin University on Saturday.

Williams, a senior running back from Downers Grove South High School, earned his second consecutive Player of the Week award by accounting for 258 yards of offense and four touchdowns in the win over the Big Blue. Williams carred 32 times for 229 yards and a 7.2 yards per carry average. Williams set an Elmhurst and CCIW single-game record by ripping off a 99-yard touchdown run, breaking the previous Elmhurst mark of 90 and the CCIW record of 97. He added a pair of three-yard touchdown runs and also found the end zone on a five-yard run.

With his four touchdown runs, Williams established new Elmhurst career records for rushing touchdowns (43) and points scored (278). He now sits in fifth-place in the CCIW with 2,997 rushing yards in conference contests.

Tomis, a junior kicker from Lakes Community High School, was tabbed as the Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks. He had a perfect day kicking for Elmhurst, converting all six of his extra point attempts and his only field goal attempt. Tomis' connected on a 44-yard field goal in overtime that proved to be the game-winning score for the Bluejays.

Elmhurst has a 6-1 overall record and a 3-1 mark in the CCIW. The Bluejays host North Park University on Saturday (October 27).
