BALTIMORE, Md. - The Elmhurst College bowling team placed 15th out of 23 teams and finished with a 5-7 dual record at the Morgan State University Invitational.
Elmhurst opened the tournament with a 2-3 record on the tournament's opening day that consisted of standard games. Elmhurst opened with a 1,004-827 loss to top ranked Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Halie Maxwell paced the Bluejays in the loss with a 174 while
Alyssa Collins rolled a 171. The Bluejays bounced back from their loss with a 927-838 victory over Howard University.
Margaret Gawlik led Elmhurst with a 243 in the win.
Elmhurst suffered back-to-back losses against Kutztown University (879-786) and eighth-ranked University of Nebraska (1,053-802). Collins bowled a 172 and a 202, respectively, to lead the Bluejays. Elmhurst closed out day one with an 836-697 win over Coppin State University.
Alyssa Collins bowled a 201 to guide Elmhurst in the win.
On Saturday, the Bluejays competed in total-pinfall Baker matches and posted a 2-3 record. Elmhurst opened with a 721-697 victory over North Carolina Central University. The Bluejays suffered three straight losses falling to 12th-ranked New Jersey City University (817-636), St. Francis College (N.Y.) (757-672), and Hampton University (816-661). The Bluejays upended Norfolk State University 741-727 to wrap up the tournament's second day.
On Sunday, Elmhurst posted a 1-1 record while competing in best-of-seven Baker matches. The Bluejays were blanked 4-0 to Morgan State University but bounced back to toppled Fayetteville State University 4-1.
Elmhurst stands at 36-70 on the season.
