Merklein & Godhardt Earn All-CCIW Honors

ELMHURST, Ill.
- Elmhurst College basketball players Meghan Merklein and Tess Godhardt have both been named to the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's Women's Basketball all-conference team.

Merklein was a unanimous first-team selection while Godhardt earned third-team all-conference accolades.

Merklein, a senior forward for the Bluejays, earned the third consecutive all-conference honor of her career after previously earning third-team and second-team honors. This season, Merklein led Elmhurst in scoring by averaging 16.8 points per game. She also finished the season as the team-leader in field goals (143), three-pointers (35), three-point percentage (.438), free throws (77), and free throw percentage (.819). She ranked second on the squad in rebounding, pulling down 6.4 rebounds per contest.  She also ranked third on the squad in assists (65) and fourth in steals (16).

In CCIW games, Merklein averaged 14.6 points per game, the third highest total in the league for the season.

A four-year starter at Elmhurst, Merklein closed out her career ranked sixth in school history in points with 1,336. She ranks second in school history in three-point percentage (.362) and free throw percentage (.829).  Her 472 career field goals ranks eighth in school history while her 72 three-pointers ranks seventh.

Godhardt, a freshman forward for the Bluejays, had a solid debut season for Elmhurst. Godhardt averaged 12.6 points per game, the second-highest total on the squad. She also led the squad in field goal percentage (.551) while finishing third on the team in rebounding (5.4 per game).

In CCIW contests, Godhardt averaged 13.8 points and 6.4 rebound per game, ranking sixth and fourth in the league, respectively. Godhardt also ranked third in the league in field goal percentage (.531) while also leading the league in offensive rebounds.

The Bluejays finished the 2011-12 season with a 16-9 overall record. Elmhurst finished with a 7-7 CCIW record and finished tied for fourth in the conference standings.
