CHICAGO, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's track and field team totaled 23 points to place 12th out of 16 teams at the Chicagoland Championships hosted by the University of Chicago.
North Central College won the team title with 204 points. DePaul University took second (124) while Carthage College placed third (73).
Jake Austin was the top finisher for the Bluejays. Austin won the steeplechase by crossing the finish line in 9:25.30.
The Elmhurst 4x100 relay squad totaled six points by placing third. The squad of
Kurt Kibler,
Jon Janus,
Kyle Kibler, and
Mark D'Angelo finished the race in 43.73 seconds.
The 4x400 squad of
Kurt Kibler,
Kyle Kibler, Austin, and D'Angelo scored an eighth place finish in 3:26.33.
The Bluejays scored six points in the javelin behind a pair of top-eight finishes.
Sean Tews scored four points with a fifth place finish by recording a toss of 134-10.
DJ Giambalvo placed seventh with a throw of 133-11.
The Bluejays run at the Benedictine University Invitational on April 14.
