ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team closed the book on the 2012-13 season by defeating Dominican University and Franklin College at the Brune Tennis Courts.
Elmhurst opened the day by with an 8-1 win over Dominican. The Bluejays closed out the day with a 7-2 victory over Franklin.
ELMHURST 8, DOMINICAN 1 - Elmhurst rolled past Dominican 8-1 to open the day. The Bluejays swept the three doubles contests and took five of the six singles matches in the win.
In doubles play, the Bluejays' duo of
Nicole Darga and Annie Dugan blanked Rachel Taddy and Emily Hereford 8-0 at No. 1 doubles.
Jennifer Guenther and
Brittany Kuehn dispatched Jillian Metcalf and Rosemary Orchanian 8-6 at No. 2 doubles. Elmhurst's pair of
Ragan Wilson and
Lauren Kuehn edged Marbeya Berner and Monica Budzak 8-6 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Duggan downed Taddy 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles while Darga handed Hereford at 6-0, 6-2 loss at No. 2 singles. Wilson scored a 6-2, 6-2 win over Metcaf at No. 3 singles and Guenther toppled Berner 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4 singles. Orchanian scored Dominican's only point with a 6-2, 6-4 win over
Lauren Kuehn at No. 5 singles.
Brittany Kuehn closed out singles play with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Budzak at No. 6 singles.
ELMHURST 7, FRANKLIN 2 - The Bluejays handed Franklin (13-3) just their third loss of the season with a 7-2 win.
Darga and Duggan opened doubles play with an 8-2 win over Adrian Gilaspy and Melissa Sanders at No. 1 doubles. Franklin's Heather Pasek and Bethany Harris downed Guenther and
Brittany Kuehn 8-5 at No. 2 doubles. Wilson and
Lauren Kuehn upended Chelsea Howell and Becky Bonomini 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Duggan downed Pasek 8-4 at No. 1 singles while Darga defeated Sanders at No. 2 singles with an identical score. Wilson downed Harris 8-5 at No. 3 singles. Gillaspy downed Guenther 8-4 at No. 4 singles for Franklin's final point of the day.
Lauren Kuehn (8-3 win over Howell at No. 5 singles) and
Brittany Kuehn (8-6 win over Chelsea Platt at No. 6 singles) closed out the day with singles wins for Elmhurst.
Elmhurst closed the season with a 5-11 overall record.
