Post Season Honors Arrive For Men's Tennis Team

All-CCIW Men's Tennis Team

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -
Four members of the Elmhurst men's tennis team earned all-conference honors while head coach Anthony McPherson was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's Coach of the Year.

Alex Harbert and Will Jung were both named to the all-conference first team while Vincent McPherson and Luke Tanaka earned second-team all-conference honors. Vincent McPherson was also named the MVP of the CCIW Men's Tennis Championship.

Anthony McPherson was named the league's Coach of the Year for the second time in three seasons after leading the Bluejays to their first CCIW Championship since the 1954 season. Elmhurst posted a perfect 5-0 mark in the CCIW regular season before capturing the league's postseason tournament title. The Bluejays finished the season with a 14-9 overall record and were ranked in the ITA Central Region Rankings throughout the season.

Harbert earned his third consecutive first-team all-conference honor. He posted a 4-1 mark in CCIW play and posted nine wins at No. 1 singles. He finished the year with a 14-13 overall record. He has a career record of 46-32 in singles play.

Will Jung
Jung earned the third straight all-conference honor of his career after earning second-team honors for the past two seasons. Jung finished the season with 11 victories (nine at No. 2 singles) in singles play.

Harbert and Jung teamed at No. 1 doubles and posted a 16-6 overall record including a 4-1 mark in the CCIW.

Vincent McPherson
Vincent McPherson picked up the first all-conference of his career after posting 11 victories at No. 3 singles and a 14-14 overall mark in singles play. He finished with 15 wins in doubles play, including a 7-3 mark with Kevin Noble at No. 3 doubles.

At the CCIW Championships, McPherson won a pair of three-set matches in singles play to help the Bluejays to their first conference title in almost 60 years. He added a pair of doubles wins to finish a perfect 4-0 at the CCIW Championships.

Luke Tanaka
Tanaka earned second-team all-conference honors after posting a 15-13 overall record on the season and an 11-10 mark at No. 4 singles. He finished the CCIW season with a 4-1 record at No. 4 singles. He added 13 victories in doubles play, including a 10-7 mark at No. 2 doubles when paired with Chris Harrison.

The Bluejays return their entire squad in 2013-14.
