ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst wrestling team dropped to 1-1 on the season in dual meets after suffering a 31-9 loss to the University of Chicago.

Elmhurst won three of the eight matches wrestled and the Bluejays also gave up 12 points due to a pair of forfeits.

Chicago (1-0) started with a quick 6-0 lead after an illness forced the Bluejays to forfeit the 125 pound weight class. The Bluejays cut the lead in half after 133 pounds.
Anthony Munoz used a third-period takedown and riding time to score a 4-1 win over Chicago's Louis Demarco. Elmhurst pulled even in the dual score at 141 pounds after Jimmy McAuliffe topped Chaise Hauck 10-6. Chicago's Grant Morris gave the Maroons a 9-6 lead with a 10-5 decision over Howie Olson at 149 pound.

Chicago received six more points via forfeit at 157 pounds to extend their lead to 15-6. The Maroons pushed their advantage to 19-6 after Kahlan Lee-Lermer scored a 14-4 major decision over
Gunnar Hjorth. The Maroons' Nick Carola followed with a 12-1 major decision over
Shawn Swiderek at 174 pounds.
Taylor Kistulinec suffered an 18-1 technical fall loss to Chicago's Jason Lynch at 184 pounds.

Mark Miller scored Elmhurst's third and final win of the night, scoring two third period takedowns to topple Nick Ferraro 13-9 at 197 pound. Chicago's Ben Hare closed out the dual with a 7-0 decision over Elmhurst's
Karim Fuentes.
